DOCTRINE: The CHURCH OF GOD (HOLINESS) teaches: the Reliability and Inspiration of the Bible; the doctrine of the Trinity; the diety of Christ; the value and dignity of man and his sinfulness; the offer of forgiveness of sins and assurance of eternal life as a free gift from God, obtained through faith in Christ; the power of the Holy Spirit to purify the Christian and enable him to live a victorious, holy life; the reality of eternal joy, or eternal punishment after death; and the second coming of Christ.
KEEPING PACE IN A CHANGING WORLD: A warmhearted church and victorious Christian life, based on the Word of God, have attracted many people to the fellowship of the CHURCHES OF GOD in the past century. There are now approximatley 300 churches in the Western Hemisphere and nearly 16,ooo persons associated with the (CHURCHES OF GOD (HOLINESS). The uncertainties of the nuclear age, the failure of prosperity to satisfy basic human needs, and the inability of education and science to furnish adequate values for quality living all affirm the relevance of the Church's message, and the urgency of its mission in today's world.
BORN IN A RELIGIOUS AWAKENING: Your local CHURCH OF GOD (HOLINESS) is affiliated with an association of other congregations called CHURCH OF GOD (HOLINESS). England was saved from revolution in the Eighteenth Century by the Wesleyan Revival that brought a new awareness of the importance of turning away from sin, living pure, holy lives, and knowing one is ready to meet God. This message quickly spread to America. As a result many people came to a fresh realization that God is able to forgive man's sins and cleanse his heart from all unrighteousness.
CHRISTIAN EDUCATION: In the early part of this century the CHURCH OF GOD (HOLINESS) pioneered in the now popular Christian school movement. Many churches and areas have strong Christian grade and high schools. The Kansas City College and Bible School (Overland Park, Kansas) is a Church sponsered liberal arts and Bible college preparing Christian ministers, missionaries, teachers and people entering a variety of occupations.
Our local Christian Day School is "Fort Scott Christian Heights" they offer a great education and the opportunity for students to learn about God and how to live a Christian life and become good citizens and serve God in our society as well as the opportunity for fellowship with other Christian young people.
